French as a Second Language (FSL) is for those who would like to learn French or improve their French. We offer four levels of training. The fee for these courses covers our costs as this service is not covered under our ministry funding.
This program provides theoretical and practical training in French as a Second Language which allows you to acquire the written and oral skills necessary for your personal and professional development. Our four-level program is designed to meet your needs. Each course is designed for you to learn French quickly, regardless of your level. Winter Session
French Basics — beginner level
Thursdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m. January 16 to March 13, 2025
FSL 1 — beginner level
Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from January 15 to March 26, 2025
FSL 2 — intermediate level
Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from January 15 to March 26, 2025
FSL 3 — advanced level
Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from January 14 to March 25, 2025
Cost:
- French Basics is $110*, all materials are included.
- FSL courses are $205* each, plus $60 for the textbook which is used for all 3 levels of FSL. (265$ for book and course)

FSL-1
In a relaxed and welcoming setting, you will learn the basic vocabulary and present tense verbs. You will learn to express yourself with clarity and precision both verbally and in writing. The primary focus of this course is core French and beginner conversation.
FSL-2
Learn the basics of French language and use the most common expressions in everyday living. Continue conjugating verbs in the present tense and start on to the past and the future tenses as well. At the end of this level, you will be able to communicate at a basic level and be ready to continue to build your fluency.
FSL-3
Now the fun begins. You will learn to better converse and express your ideas, give information and have discussions. At the end of this level, you will be able to participate with ease in a conversation and write paragraphs.
French Basics
This course introduces you to the French language and is designed for those that have had no training in French. It will introduce the sounds, the alphabet, the concept of masculine and feminine, and some basic phrases.
